ATA Carnets Ease Restrictions on Transport of Goods for Business Travelers

On May 16, Mexico began issuing and accepting ATA Carnets - which acts as a "passport" for goods carried out of the country that are not be sold or otherwise left in a country to which a business person travels.

This is especially advantageous for those who purchase product samples, trade show equipment, or other goods for their business while in Mexico. If the ATA Carnet is obtained prior to business travel, eligible goods can be taken to any participating country for up to one year, free of duties and other taxes.

Seventy-one countries now participate in the ATA Carnet network - a system that is helping to reduce documentation and cost for those who travel to and from Mexico with goods for a business.
