Influx of Hotels Opening for Business Travelers in Mexico

Mexico City, already a destination for business travelers, is doing what it can to promote more business travelers to visit. Mexico City continues to increase its tourism numbers with business-related tourism that can be attributed to the increasing number of conventions, trade shows and corporate meetings held in the ancient capital city.

Three global hotel chains trying to capitalize on this growing market, announced plans to expand developments in the area.

From Mexico Today:
• This year, the Hilton Worldwide will open one of its first DoubleTree by Hilton expansions in the region near the Benito Juarez International Airport.
• Marriott International plans to open its first Courtyard Marriott property at the Airport in early 2012. Highlights of the 292-room hotel include a fitness center, a patio with retail shops and two levels of underground parking.
• Finally, Starwood Hotels and Resorts announced plans to renovate its existing W Mexico City property and to build a new W Santa Fe in the international tourist destination as well. Slated to open in 2014, the W Santa Fe will be part of a new mixed-use development and will include 132 guest rooms, a 4,000 square foot destination spa and 7,800 square feet of event space for conventions.
