TSA's "Why?" Campaign

Speaking of laptop cases...have you ever wondered WHY you have to remove your laptop case from your bag when you go through security? It may be a drag, but there's a rationale behind it.

Here's the scoop from TSA:
TSA screens laptops to see if the electronics have been tampered with. Transportation Security Officers know what the inside of a computer should look like, and they can recognize irregularities. This is why they need an unobstructed view as the item moves through the X-ray machine.

Packing: it's part art, part science. I've got it pretty much down to a T. First and foremost, when I pack, I think about what it will take to go through security - what will I have to take off, out, etc. I've been in the market for a new laptop case and stumbled on Samsonite's line of "TSA friendly laptops." (Yup, you heard me right). And the kicker: they're on sale! I've got my eye on the "Checkpoint friendly laptop case."
