The World Tourism Organization, a United Nations body agency dealing tourism related questions, aims to promote the development of responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism. Mexico was recently awarded a seat on the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). This action will give Mexico the ability to better boost their national tourism sector and encourage policies affecting the investment, development and competitiveness in the tourism industry.
