Etiquette for Travelers to Mexico
There are many words, phrases and idioms that become lost in translation and can offend others who are not familiar with the idiosyncrasies of a specific language. For example, while Americans may call someone "stupid" in jest, the word "estupido" in Spanish has far more damaging implications. The word is seen as a harsh insult and should be avoided when visiting and/or doing business in Mexico.

Learning Spanish
While staff at restaurants and hotels in Mexico City speak a fair amount of English, it never hurts to learn the local language, especially when conducting business. Even if it's just learning local phrases and idioms, this can make a huge difference when interacting with others. And, if you really want to up your game, there's always Rosetta Stone.
